--James Polk Papers, 1775-1891, 20,500 items: Series 9 of this microfilmed edition of Polk’s papers are the Sarah Polk Papers. Includes 3 volumes of papers of Sarah C. Polk. Included are about 90 letters between James and Sarah Polk from the time he left Congress through the years of his presidency. Large amount of business, personal and social correspondence also in Series 2, and scattered items, in Series 3, as identified in index. In Series 11, there are 81 pages of account books, and other financial papers. Bulk of her papers are checks, receipts, invoices, and other financial material from the years when she was living in Nashville as a widow. Period covered is 1831 to 1891. Correspondence received and sent; much of the material is identified as "check," "invitations," "regrets," "receipt" in Index. Sarah Polk material is principally located in Series 2 and 9. --Lucretia Garfield Papers: In container 60, there is a 4 July 1881 telegram from Sarah Polk to Lucretia Garfield on the assassination attempt on President Garfield and hope for recovery.

--Bancroft-Bliss Family Papers: In container 8, there is an 1851 letter from Sarah Polk to Mrs. Bancroft. In container 9, there is a February 1857 letter from Sarah Polk to Mrs. Bancroft.
