, 1841-1890, 8 ft: Correspondence, account books, school essays, tributes, clippings, and pictures. Many letters concern Mrs. Hayes’ interest in the Woman's missionary societies of the Methodist Episcopal Church, the Woman's Christian Temperance Union, the Ohio Soldiers’ & Sailors’ Orphans Home, Xenia, Ohio, and other benevolent activities. Related material is found in the library's Rutherford B. Hayes collection.

--Anna Margaret Tressler Scott Papers, 1880-1953, Fremont, Ohio, 2 boxes, 0.5 ft.: Correspondence, minute books, account books, clippings, pamphlets, photos, and memorabilia. Chiefly letters to Mrs. Scott, secretary, and other members of the Illinois State Testimonial Committee commending Mrs. Rutherford B. Hayes for not serving alcohol in the White House. Includes pamphlets on the Tressler and Scott families, two letters (1800) from Mrs. Scott to her husband, pamphlet entitled Illinois testimonial to Mrs. Rutherford B. Hayes, and a letter (1953) from the White House acknowledging receipt of a copy.
--Lucy Cook McCandless Papers, 1880-98, 1 Box: McCandless (1851-1902), the cousin of Lucy (Webb) Hayes, was the granddaughter of Ohio’s first governor Edward Tiffin. Correspondence, a partial diary, legal records, accounts, and photos.

Garfield Papers: Includes Container 56 which has a handwritten invitation dated 6 December 1880 from the secretary to Lucy Hayes to Lucretia Garfield; an invitation to White House dated 24 February 1881; a handwritten note from LH to LG dated 15 May 1888; notice on death of LH with handwritten note from Rutherford B. Hayes dated 4 July 1889; and a calling card with inscription.
--Rutherford Birchard Hayes Papers, 1856-1893, 335 items: In part, transcripts (typewritten) and photocopies made from originals in the possession of the Rutherford B. Hayes Memorial Library, Fremont, Ohio, and the Gates W. McGarrah collection of presidential autographs. Correspondence, record (1877-81) of social events at the Executive Mansion, notes and drafts of Presidential messages prepared by or for Hayes, printed copy of his inaugural address, miscellaneous personal, legal, and financial papers, and news clippings. Includes letter of and other items relating to Lucy (Webb) Hayes. Also, in Container 2 there is 1 folder with: lock of hair in envelope; copy of draft for will - signed; note - undated; photocopy of sheet music cover dedicated to LWH. Container 150 includes LWH telegram, Series 4, 20 September 1881; 131, pt. 2 LWH not located/listed in Index, 21 February 1881. Note: Microfilm of RBH letters does not have a finding aid.
--Bancroft-Bliss Family: Papers includes Container 11 which has a note dated March 1879 from LWH to Mrs. Bancroft; an invitation to the White House dated 2 February 1880; and a note on a card dated April 1880 from LWH to Mrs. Bancroft. Container 12 has an undated note on card from LWH to Mr. Bliss.
--John Davis Batchelder Papers: Container 5 includes a signature of Lucy Webb Hayes (#696).
